Fireweed Leaf Tea

CA$10.00

This tea is named for the region in Russia where the process used to make it was originally created.

Our Yukon Koporye is prepared from the leaves of the fireweed plant found in abundance in the Yukon territory. Similar to the process used to make Chinese tea, leaves are rolled, fermented and left to sit and age until the the proper taste profile develops. Many say the taste is similar to oolong. Our process takes most of the summer. We harvest leaves in the early summer, flowers and then berries in the fall.

A little history: At one point “Russian Tea” was exported abroad and was wildly popular. Unfortunately it fell out of favour when Indian tea became available. Early Russian settlers found this familiar plant from home growing in Alaska. They could make and enjoy this tea from home in their settlements.

Ingredients : Fireweed Leaves (alone in our straight up blend) - added wild rose and fireweed flower petals in our Wild Flower blend - added high bush and low bush wild cranberries, wild rosehips in our Wild Berry Blend.
